Jeffrey E. Babich founded BABICHacoustics in 2011. Jeff balances his duties as an entrepreneur with a solid technical background. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Arts in Acoustics and Audio Design from The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. Jeff is also a graduate of 10,000 Small Businesses, a program offered by Goldman Sachs and Babson College to help business owners create jobs and economic opportunities by providing access to education, capital, and support services.
Jeff’s skills include business development, operations management, project management, lead acoustical design, as well as noise and vibration control and environmental noise testing. He has consulted on hundreds of designs for hospitals, schools, offices, industrial plants, worship spaces, theaters, and multi-family dwellings throughout North America.
His love for sound began at a young age when Jeff started playing the piano and trumpet. In his early career as an engineer, he designed wheels and brakes for military aircraft. Jeff’s passion for music led him to graduate school in acoustics. He worked in the Washington, D.C., area before his first full-time position in Pittsburgh in 2003.
Jeff enjoys spending free time with his family, running, and competing in triathlons, hiking, skiing, cooking, and gardening. He also enjoys traveling and has recently been to Italy, England, Ireland, and France. Jeff is looking forward to adding more countries around the world to his growing list of multicultural experiences!
Babich has been named a Director-at-Large for the National Council of Acoustical Consultants for 2024-2026; he is also a Member of the Acoustical Society of America, and a Board Certified Member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering.
