Martin J. Mann, BS Eng., B.M.

CONSULTANT

Martin Mann joined BABICHacoustics in 2024 and brings an excellent understanding of sound, engineering, and architecture. Martin holds a dual degree with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Bachelor of Music from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio.

With parents in the architecture and engineering fields and their love for playing music, it’s no surprise that Martin’s path to acoustics combines both his parents’ influence as well as his own musical talent. Martin’s experience includes working on vibration isolation for an on-campus observatory telescope, working as a draftsman intern for an architectural firm, and sound analysis for laboratories and classrooms in the Austin E. Knowlton Center at Baldwin Wallace University. While finishing his degrees, he also completed an independent research study in restaurant acoustics with Faculty and Staff at the Durham School of Architectural Engineering & Construction at the University of Nebraska.

Martin’s love for music and concert halls developed his profound excellence in the French Horn. He has performed with Baldwin Wallace’s orchestra and wind ensemble, the Mansfield Symphony, and various musical theaters in Ohio. He hopes to continue his musical freelancing in Pittsburgh.

During his years of performing on stage, Martin developed a fascination with concert hall acoustics, which led to an interest in acoustics in various buildings such as hospitals, restaurants, hotels, and more. Martin aspires to remove unpleasant noises from frequently visited establishments and create a quieter room experience for hotels, office buildings, and apartment residents.

Martin is a member of the Acoustical Society of America, the Institute for Noise Control Engineering, the National Council of Acoustical Consultants, and the International Horn Society.
