Project description
BABICHacoustics worked with Perkins Eastman on the acoustical design of the Brad D. Smith Center for Business & Innovation, a new 78,000 SF building for Marshall University. The new facility houses the Lewis College of Business and features some of the latest technology to educate 21st-Century business students. The building was constructed by P.J. Dick Construction in conjunction with Fairmount Properties.
The building was dedicated in April 2024 and was funded in part with a $25 million donation from Marshall President Brad D. Smith, an alum of Marshall’s College of Business, and his wife, Alys Smith. A new 360-seat auditorium was made possible through a $1.8 million donation from Encova Insurance. Additional generous donations were made by Dutch Miller Auto Group, Service Wire Company, and John Rahal — among others.
BABICH provided acoustics and noise control consulting services for high performance spaces throughout the building including the auditorium, the Forum — an active atrium with audiovisual presentation systems, multiple classrooms, and a Media Suite containing a broadcast studio, recording studio, and control room.
