Project description
BABICHacoustics is working with Frederick Fisher and Partners and Shepley Bulfinch on this multi-phase renovation and addition to the historic Guyot Hall on the campus of Princeton University. Originally constructed in 1909, the building creates a new home for the Computer Science Department — Princeton’s largest undergraduate program — as well as the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning (CSML), the Center for Information Technology Policy (CITP), and the Princeton Institute for Computational Science and Engineering (PICSciE).
After renovation, this building will become a vibrant and interdisciplinary hub for computational thinking. It provides an intellectual and physical connection to every division on campus to make it a place for serendipitous exchanges and scholarly partnerships. The new cross-laminated timber addition will connect the existing Guyot Hall to nearby Shultz and Moffett Halls — creating a new outdoor courtyard between all buildings. This sustainable building is pursuing LEED certification.
Acoustical consulting services include recommendations for acoustical treatments throughout the facility, mechanical noise and vibration control, sound isolation, and speech privacy.
