Valen Patricia Li joined BABICHacoustics in 2023. She brings a diverse background to acoustical consulting. Valen holds a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
Born in Indonesia and raised in Hong Kong, Valen ventured to the United States at 18 to begin the journey to her professional career. Her undergraduate coursework focused on signal processing, bioacoustics, psychoacoustics, and vibrations, sparking her passion for acoustics. Valen's experience includes pioneering research on disease biomarkers in contact lenses, contributing to MRI system development at a biotech startup, and quality engineering for a medical device manufacturer.
Beyond her professional achievements, Valen is a traveler who explored 24 states on a road trip and enjoys sports like badminton, volleyball, golf, and tennis. Her love for music is the driving force behind her acoustical engineering interest.
Valen’s desire to be an engineer is in line with her aspiration to help people have a better quality of life. Her work in acoustics includes environmental noise control for commercial facilities as well as room acoustics design for laboratories, classrooms, offices, and conference spaces. She is enjoying her work to help make the world quieter so that people can enjoy more pleasant sounds!
