Project description
BABICHacoustics completed acoustical design and recommendations for the renovation of a new NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) for Allegheny Health Network’s West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. This was completed in order to meet acoustical requirements for the NICU as described in the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI). A pre-construction noise survey was completed at the start of the project to identify any existing conditions and evaluate typical noise levels within the previous NICU at the hospital. During the design phases; structural, architectural, and mechanical drawings were reviewed for compliance with the FGI acoustical requirements. During construction phase; site visits were completed to verify compliance with the design documents.
